Variable area flow meters for liquids and gases. These flow meters utilise the variable area principle whereby a tapered tube is used and a free float within the tube which moves up and down the tube to register rising and falling flow rates respectively. The float is in free flight and establishes an equilibrium of the gravitational and upward forces by assuming a particular position within the tapered tube in accordance with a corresponding flow area.

These variable area flow meters are very repeatable and reliable, hardly any maintenance is needed

The long tube version has a very good resolution due to the length of the scale. This particular type of flow meter is favoured by the asbestos test house to be used to calibrate the flow meters used in the field.

They can be supplied with an ISO 17025 or UKAS certificate.
